Employee Spotlight: Rosalba Fuentes

Director of Social Services Rosalba Fuentes has always known that her purpose in life is to help others, and her career at LifeSTEPS has allowed her to put her passion and talent to work. She finds true joy in supporting and empowering the adults, children and seniors she helps on a daily basis, and she is making a profound difference in their lives. This is why Rosalba is LifeSTEPS’ May employee of the month. “I love being part of the LifeSTEPS family. Giving back to the community is very important to me, and through LifeSTEPS, I have found a way to personally grow and move forward while helping others so the same,” stated Rosalba.

Thank you Sierra Nevada High School Cycling Organization!

May is #NationalBikeMonth, and a father and son living at a LifeSTEPS affordable housing community in Los Angeles have big reasons to smile – their commutes to work, school and sports practices just got a lot easier. Both will receive new bikes, helmets and information on bike safety and maintenance, thanks to a generous donation from the Sierra Nevada High School Cycling Organization. We’re so grateful for this generous support which will give many LifeSTEPS residents the gift of mobility, empowering them to stay healthy and fit. Cycling promotes both physical and mental health, connects our communities and helps reduce our carbon footprint.

May is Affordable Housing Month!

May is Affordable Housing Month! Now more than ever, families need the security and stability of a safe, affordable home. According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, nearly 1.3 million households in CA are considered low-income, yet for every 100 of these households, there are only 24 affordable homes available for rent. Because of this, families often sacrifice necessities like healthcare and nutrition in order to make rent, and often face the risk of eviction. Everyone has a right to an affordable place to call home, and LifeSTEPS will continue to support initiatives that expand access to equitable and inclusive affordable housing for all.

Happy National Nurses Day!

Happy National Nurses Day! We created the “Housing Plus Services: RN Coaching” pilot program in partnership with USA Properties Fund as a community-based solution to improve the quality of life and health outcomes for older adults. The RNs were especially critical to the program’s success, enabling older residents of affordable housing communities to continue living independently. Today and every day, we extend our gratitude to all nurses and healthcare workers for their dedication and hard work, especially throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
